To be honest, I hadn’t really heard of Hawke scopes until a buddy of mine started talking about them. He shoots competitive air guns and kept talking about this great line of rifle scopes from the UK called Hawke that I really needed to check out. A trip to the range to shoot under a few of his Hawke scopes, along with some research, led to some very pleasant surprises.

"HawkeIt turns out that a whole range of Hawke scopes are specifically designed to meet the tough demands of hunters and shooters alike who require supreme quality optics, especially when operating in low-light conditions or when in the middle of thickly-wooded areas.

Hawke, just like most optic companies in the market today, has their rifle scopes assembled for them. It is actually a UK-based company; its frontline scopes are manufactured straight from Japan. Hawke scopes are purchased with a professional packaging that contains a generic manual (available in six different languages) and a printed warranty card. Each scope comes with a free 3” sunshade, a lens cover for both ends of the scope that serves as protection when the scope is not in use, and a cleaning cloth.

The tube itself is a single one-inch tube, a nitrogen-filled aluminum piece. It boasts of a nice, non-reflective matte finish. The eyepiece is a typical fast-focus design favored by high-end scopes. Its dioptre adjustment presents a good adjustment range especially for those who prefer to use the scope without corrective eyewear. You can also exploit its full 4x zoom range from 6x to 24x. The adjustment knobs are easy to access; they are serrated to give a good grip. The scope also offers an efficient eye relief almost up to four inches, which is remarkably more than most scopes out there. It’s an indication that the Hawke scopes will work well with magnum rifles.

Just recently, Hawke engineers advanced a new kind of “broad band” lens coating that efficiently captures the brightest images possible without affecting clarity and solution. This lens coating is known in the market as true-view coating. Individually-selected lenses are carefully matched for an edge-to-edge image clarity. These lenses are inspected repeatedly during assembly to maintain crisp and clear target imaging throughout the magnification range.

Rifle scopes work on the principle of “repeatability.” It’s not just windage or elevation adjustment. Each scope also stresses on the impact point that is made possible with the scope’s range magnification. The sleek and innovative reticle technology together with the system programming makes it possible for Hawke scopes to be repeatable in these critical areas.

Hawke scopes offers a number of various scope models to fit most any shooting applications. Their most popular models include:
