Burris Optics was formed in 1971 by founder Don Burris after he served a number of years with the Redfield Optics company. Redfield had their optics produced overseas, and Don Burris felt that a better, higher quality, rifle scope could be produced in America at a good price.<\/p>\n

In 1980, Burris<\/a> became the first U.S. based optics company to offer a multi-coated lens. Prior to 1980, multi-coated lenses were only available on expensive European rifle scopes.<\/p>\n

At the time of this writing, Burris Optics was one of a select few optic companies that produced most all of their scopes entirely in the U.S. Some of their more economical models (such as the Fullfield II) has lenses that are produced in the Phillipines, but the scopes themselves are constructed in the U.S.<\/p>\n
